WOYWW 195

I'm still working on the wedding stationery at my desk this week, so as I can't let you see it yet, here are some of the items made at the weekend as ideas for my Creative Craft class.  Another carrier bag store and a wee peg bag to match.  For the lettering I used some new alphabet dies - they work really well with felt and then just stitched them on.  I have a nice pattern for a cupcake shaped oven gloves so I might try those next if I can get some heat proof wadding.

Gretchen with Jolly

I bought a couple of the new Stampavie (Penny Johnston) stamps recently - one of them being 'Gretchen with Jolly'.  Mind you, I wasn't very sure how to colour a horse and he didn't turn out all that great, but I'll just have to try again.  I used this weeks Friday Sketchers sketch for the layout and I will also be able to enter the Allsorts challenge (Animals), I love Promarkers challenge (Four legged friends) and the Stampavie challenge (Lots of layers).  The paper came from the same card as my previous post (yes - it was still sitting out on my desk!) and again I have teamed it up with So Saffron card and ribbon from SU.  The happy birthday stamp is also from SU and as usual I have used Promarkers to colour it.

Orange and Lemon

I recently bought a new paper pad by MME called 'Howdy Doody' after seeing some lovely cards made using some of the papers on other blogs.  The colours are lovely but very different from my usual blues, greens and lilacs, so I decided to try a card using it and found it matched up really well with SU So Saffron card and ribbon.  I used the layout on this weeks Sketchy Challenge and the image is from LOTV.  The butterfly is a die cut and I can also enter the LOTV challenge as its 'Butterflies' this week.  The labels punches are from SU and the lemon mat was made using a Nesties die.
Edited to add  - this card was chosen in the top three at Lils Little Fairies challenge!

A little peak at the covers for the wedding invites I've been busy making.  You can see they're all cut, scored, folded and have the very sticky double sided tape on them - just ready now for the lace, ribbons and bows!  Can't let you see the finished ones until they've been posted out!

Now I was wondering if maybe someone could help me out - a few years ago I made this wall hanging from a kit - it's a really chunky long stitch and the sheep are made by latch hook (like rugs).  Anyhow, the same company also made an arch shaped one with poppies on it, but when I tried to buy it from the same supplier as the sheep one, it had been discontinued.  I think the company that made it was called Smyrna or something like that and I would really like to find out if I could still buy it somewhere, or even the pattern of the design as I could buy the rug canvas and use chunky wool or tapestry wool doubled.  Any suggestions would be much appreciated.

Things with wings

I had to take a break from making wedding invites to make a few cards for a customer today, so I used this weeks sketch from Sketch and Stash.  The papers are from a Nitwits pad from LOTV (now old stash as they have just produced a new set!) and the Magnolia stamp is quite new - I've only used it once or twice before.  I coloured using Promarkers and Flexmarkers and paper pieced her dress.  The butterflies were made using a really old punch - probably one of the first things I bought when I started making cards.  I will also enter this weeks Allsorts challenge as they are looking for 'Things with Wings.'  The balloon is a really old Quickutz die and the 'Happy Birthday' stamp, label punches and aqua card are all from SU.  The lovely aqua lace is from a wee gift shop in Belfast.

WOYWW 193

This week I'm working on a tapestry - I think it'll keep me busy for a while! It was started by an elderly lady who had problems with her eyesight and so it has now been given to me to finish.   Unfortunately she has done a bit here and there all over the bits that still have to be stitched (the couple in the centre were already stitched when she bought it and the background trammed).  This makes it even more difficult as her very uneven stitches are spliting the canvas and covering up the 'holes' where my stitches have to go.  She has also used a double thickness of the wool, so I have not enough of it left to finish some of the areas - don't I just get all the lovely jobs to do!!  Mum was up for the weekend and we spent some time on Saturday morning sorting out all the wool.  The picture below shows what it was like 'before.'  The older children in school are doing exams this week, so I think I'll maybe do a bit of stitching while I'm supervising if there's enough light.

WOYWW 192

I have been MIA these last couple of weeks - still making some cards etc, but just haven't had time to get them photographed and onto the blog.  I've also been getting started on the sample textiles items for my creative crafts class - a carrier bag tidy, a pocket tissue holder and the other bag thing is supposed to be toiletries bag but I think its just the right size for my scarf knitting!  The girls in school have now finished making a felt needle case and one of the wee tissue holders.  Next they will probably do a carrier bag holder then a little bit of crochet and knitting before deciding on their final items.  I think I'll maybe have to buy some more of the cupcake fabric - I have lots of ideas of things you could make with it.  I like to do lots of sewing when I've all the stuff out.  The cat likes to play with the bobbins and spools of thread - she had the furniture in the dining area and conservatory all tied up last night!  To find out what everyone else has been doing this week, visit Julia's blog HERE.
