I can't show you my very untidy desk today as it's really so bad I will have to have a tidy up before it's useable! - I had a couple of cards to make at short notice and needed to pull out lots of stash.  Instead I have a picture of the cross stitch I finished off to give to my niece on the birth of my first great nephew.  I was a cross stitch design from LOTV and had had a pink version also stitched so I had just to add the name etc this week.  Weighing in at 10lb 1oz he certainly is a 'great' nephew!  Back to more craft fair items for the rest of the week as I am taking a table at another one on Saturday morning. I can't see my work desk at the moment as it's buried under a mountain of all sorts!! - I am taking a table at a craft fair this Saturday so have to get some things ready for sale very quickly as I am off to the NEC on Friday (involves a 1.5 hour drive to Belfast, an overnight stay there, flights of just over an hour to Birmingham and back after 9 on Friday night - so probably not get home again until midnight at least!!) But I always enjoy the trip - my twice yearly treat!! Anyhow I have made some chicken sewing caddy/pincushion (pattern from www.artfabricstudio.com - with a few modifications), cards and gift tags, covered notebooks, mini tins of shortbread and I took up LLJ's advice and made some covers for packs of pocket tissues - mind you, I should have consulted her page before I had the first half dozen made - I just used one thickness of fabric with some cute lacy edged bias binding I found in my stash, when I should have used a double layer of fabric - oh well, you learn as you go and they look OK! My desk is a mess at the moment as I have been making lots of cards and now need to do the inserts and package them up (the boring bit - I just prefer to do the outside creative bit!!) It was relatively tidy until now as I was working at another desk last week - building a 1000 piece jigsaw puzzle of a craft shed - how appropriate! 40th Birthday

I was recently asked to make a card for a pastry chef so I used this really old Magnolia stamp and a selection of die cuts.  The paper was from a pack called 'Tea House' by Dovecroft and 40 stamps and dies are by SU.  The image was coloured with Promarkers.  I am entering it in the Simply Magnolia Challenge (Anything Goes).

Exam Congrats

I have been very bad at blogging lately, despite having been very busy making lots of cards - so I decided to try to post a bit more often and enter a few challenges. This card was made using Magnolia stamps coloured with Promarkers and Flexmarkers (with her dress being paper pieced).  The sentiment was stamped and the background of the message stamped and die cut.  I am entering the Simply Magnolia challenge (CAS), the I Love Promarkers challenge (use a die cut), the Cute Card Thursday challenge (words or numbers) and Sketchy Challenges (anything goes).

Almost Thursday now, but just a quick post to show you my tidy desk!!  I did a big tidy up after working on wedding stationery over the last couple of weeks and I'm now trying to use up lots of bits of patterned paper by making some quick cards. Congratulations

I've just realised I forgot to post pictures of the congratulations cards I made a few weeks ago.  Two were for a newly qualified doctor and the other for the recipient of an OBE.

My desk is only slightly more tidy this week than last (still a lot of work to be done!) but at least there are a couple of cards almost ready (both for the same girl who has just qualified as a doctor - I always find it difficult to make them look 'different' enough when they're both for the same person).  I have two more to make for orders and then I will be all up to date - mind you one of them is for someone who had just received an OBE and I'm a bit stuck for ideas - any suggestions?  Visit the other work desks this week by clicking HERE.

What a mess!! - I've been trying to tidy up my craft room and now everything has been piled up on the desk.  I have some new paper and matching ribbon which will be very difficult to cut up - I think I may have to get a second pack for using and keep this one for looking at!! Mind you I came across this picture of Einstein's desk and I can see some similarities - I think I must be a genius in disguise!!  If you would like to see some more inspiring work desks click HERE.

The weekly work desks are on display if you visit Julia  HERE.
I have been crocheting baby shoes for sale recently - here are the ones I've finished so far - along with the yarn as I'm trying to choose what colour to make next! I finished off the wee notebooks I was working on last week but had a purple cat for a while - out of 14 spotlights on my craft room ceiling the one directly above my work desk has gone out and I mistook the purple markers for grey!! It was only when I had the cat almost finished that I realised my mistake and had to try to remove the purple and colour him grey!!

A busy desk this week - I am working on making a cover for a notebook - another Gorjuss girl.  I was really sorry the SU alcohol markers were retired as they have a really good set of reds - I could never manage to do the shading properly with my Promarker reds. The door hanger is a little project I did with the children in school yesterday - the other side is a daytime scene and says Welcome or else their names on it.  Visit the other work desks on Julia's blog HERE.

Not much happening on my desk this morning - I made a commissioned card yesterday evening but forgot to take a picture of it before passing it on (so the desk is just an untidy mess of punches, scissors DS tape etc - nothing of interest).  However, I managed to finish my cross stitch Gorjuss girl this week so I now need to get it framed, hopefully before Monday when my daughter returns to uni (it's for her wee rented student house).  Visit the world's work desks by visiting Julia HERE.

It's surprising I remembered that today is Wednesday - the day for a good look at everybody's work desk - HERE.  Usually when we're off school I forget what day of the week it is but with Hannah home from Uni for a couple of weeks she is going out to work in her part time job at 7:40 every morning, so I still have to get up (but I can get back into bed after she leaves :-) I didn't get round to taking a photo of my NEC shopping last week, so here it is today - well, some of it anyway - the stuff that hasn't been tidied away yet!  I really enjoyed my day out and the special bonus this time was being able to visit the Cake show as well.  I bought some cake decorating sprinkles etc as well as pieces of fabric and craft basics like card packs, cellophane bags, DS tape, but the photo shows paper, die cut decoupage, dies, a crochet pattern, buttons, cotton lace in lovely colours, pink and blue card and some of the 'word' dies - I have even used a couple of them already for this Engagement card I was asked to make. On the way back through airport security my bag was completely unpacked and searched - I got a few strange looks and was asked if I was going to bake myself a cake!!  I took some photos of the lovely cakes on display and they can be viewed on my facebook page (see sidebar for the link)

It's a chick production line!! Sometimes I tell the children in school I have eyes in the back of my head - now I have them on the desk, on the floor and stuck to my sleeves!! It works out much easier and quicker to make them in steps like this - but of course I had to complete one at the start to make sure I was happy with it before doing the others.  Visit Julia HERE to find out what everybody else is making this week.

For our weekly work desk visit click HERE to link to Julia's blog.  There are some die cut flowers/leaves on my desk this week as I'm preparing for a class on Friday.  The printed page is for ideas for wooden spoon puppets for my lower primary craft class - it's book week and they are going to do the story of the little red hen with the puppets (well that's the theory anyhow!)
I missed out on WOYWW last week as I forgot what day it was! - I was in shock after receiving a £100 fine for leaving my car in a car park for longer than 1 hour due to having fainted in the shop!!  They called out the ambulance and the paramedic wouldn't allow me to drive (after I refused to go to hospital!!). I took the fine in to the shop to get the manager to write a letter but he was able to get the fine cancelled - phew!!

I'm way behind with my card making this week - and four special ones still to make before Thursday evening!! However, I had a delivery from the UPS man today and I have my latest bundle on my desk - I like to use double sided tape to attach the matching dies to the inside cover of the stamp box so they are all in the same place when I need them - this 'bundle' also has matching DSP :-)  I did manage to finish my latest knitting project off this week.  I always hate the sewing up at the end - so I'm glad to have that finished.  I have also got a bit more cross stitching done - so I'll maybe have a photo for WOYWW 351.

A couple of cards from last Fridays class are still waiting to have inserts put into them.  There are also three rolls of very glittery tape on view - purchased from the '£1' shop!! Visit the other desks by clicking on Julia's blog HERE.

A little bit of cross stitch on my desk today - a Gorjuss girl to brighten up my daughter's student house - the colours co-ordinate well with the living room - so it will brighten up a bare wall! I bought this kit at the craft fair in the NEC and I thought I'd better stitch it before going back to the one in March and buying lots more! I have just discovered that you can get tickets for free with Tesco's vouchers and this year the ticket also allows you to visit the cake fair as well as crafts, stitching and knitting!! Flights booked early and all set to go - though my daughter is unable to come with me this time so I will have to restrict my purchases to one cabin bag full instead of two :-(

The clutter to the left consists of the stamps etc I was using to make a little calendar card to send to the ladies who attend my needlecraft class, to let them know it starts back again tomorrow night.

Get Well patchwork card

I had to make a couple of quick Get Well cards today so I used LOTV paper and an image from the 'Beautiful Blooms' art pad. I can enter it into the Stampavie Challenge - 'Patchwork,' Creative Inspirations - 'Floral,' Sketchy Challenges - theme 'Anything goes' and Allsorts - 'Girly/Sparkly' - I used the Wink of Stella clear pen to highlight the image with a sparkly shimmery touch, but it hasn't shown up at all in the photo :-(
All the punches used (flower, banner, plain and scalloped circles) are from SU.

New baby

Just a couple of new baby cards I made recently using paper and images from LOTV. I was sorry to hear the art pads have been discontinued as they were just so useful for making quick and easy cards.
